NEW ZEALANDISMS AS PART OF THE ENGLISH VOCABULARY IN NEW ZEALAND
Abstract
The article describes a current sociolinguistic situation in New Zealand. Particular emphasis is given to the notion of “new zealandisms”. Different sources of supplementing the scope of new zealandisms are analyzed and the processes which these lexical items further undergo are described. The paper studies the current use of novozelandizms by English speakers in New Zealand. The analysis of New Zealand written literary sources is carried out for the purpose to determine how the globalization process influences the development of English language variants and whether it can result in leveling the existing variant differences.References
