This work is devoted to the investigation of shortenings and abbreviations in English text messages. The purpose of this article is to consider the structural-semantic properties of abbreviations used in modern English. This work presents a scientific approach to systematizing shortenings and abbreviations in the Internet and the analysis of trends in the use and development of shortening as a productive way of word formation in the English language.References
