The article is devoted to the analysis of one of the actual problems of A.P.Chekhov's poetics - the living/dead opposition. The article shows how this opposition is realized through the metal/wood juxtaposition, physical bodily dying as the awakening of the soul, the leitmotif images of the violin and the coffin are considered as medial. The article allows us to conclude that playing the violin, music becomes not only a conductor between the real and metaphysical world, but also leads to overcoming death.References
