Abstract

This article is devoted to the analysis of the motive of the meeting in the novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky "The Idiot". It examines the theory of motive developed by Russian literary scholars (B. Gasparov, Yu. Silantyev); such significant types are distinguished as a meeting on the way, a chance meeting, a meeting initiated by actants. Key, turning points in the plot of the novel are analyzed. The methodological part of the article is an elective course on the study of the novel "The Idiot", designed for specialized classes of secondary school, which allows you to increase the level of theoretical and literary training of students, improve the skills of analyzing the work, and also contributes to the development of interest in literature as a school subject.
