POLITICALLY CORRECT VOCABULARY DENOTING PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES IN THE TEXTS OF ENGLISH-LANGUAGE MEDIA

The article discusses the use of politically correct vocabulary denoting people with disabilities in the texts of English-language media. It is established that euphemisms are the means of realization of this phenomenon in most cases. The types of euphemisms that are used to nominate people with disabilities are identified and analyzed. It is concluded that euphemisms meaning fighting and overcoming difficulties, as well as nominating people with disabilities by indicating the devices they use to overcome these difficulties, have the greatest frequency in the texts of English-language media.References
