Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of this article is to give an overview of ecolinguistic research in Germanic studies. Ecolinguistics is a young scientific direction, the diversity of approaches of which is being formed until now. The article analyses the concepts of German-speaking authors and Germanist researchers. It is noted that ecolinguistic studies are devoted both to the problems of linguistic ecology and ecological discourse. The approach of P. Mühlhäusler, who combined both approaches into one, is explained. The author emphasizes that language as an ecosystem directly influences the shaping and changes in ecological discourse, and the language system itself can suggest how the ecological thinking of the people speaking this language has developed and is developing.
