Abstract

Abstract: Conceptual metaphors such as light-hearted and open-minded are evaluative in nature. The concepts of HEART and MIND describe various emotional states and intellectual activities of a person; they are based on the asymmetry of the poles of positive and negative evaluation. Conceptual metaphors with an evaluative character allow the speaker not only to express the opinion about a certain object or phenomenon but also to influence the recipient.
