Abstract

Abstract: The article dwells on the importance of developing the social and communicative competence in the process of learning a foreign language by students of the upper grades. The concepts of "social and communicative competence" and "social and communicative competency" are distinguished in the article. The author substantiates the key role of social and communicative competence for effective mastery of foreign language communication. The article provides methodological recommendations for the development of social and communicative competence in teaching foreign language lessons in the upper grades.
