The article is devoted to ambivalent evaluation in ethnic identification of a character in the English-language literature, resulting in disassociation from one ethnic community towards another. Ambivalent evaluation is manifested in the convergence of opposite axiological features within a single ethnic image. The author examines contemporary English-language works to identify ways of linguistic actualization of the ambivalent evaluative nature of ethnic identification.Downloads
