CONTEXTUAL REPRESENTATION OF THE LEXEME "GENDER": LINGUISTIC AND SOCIOCULTURAL ANALYSIS

This study analyzes the contextual distribution of the lexeme gender based on corpus data, considering 1,947 occurrences from the British National Corpus of the English language. The main semantic groups are identified, including the use of gender in the context of inequality and discrimination, particularly in the fields of labor and politics; gender as a social construct, opposed to biological sex; gender as an analytical and grammatical feature; and identity. The largest category by frequency concerns the use of gender in the context of inequality and discrimination, especially in labor and political spheres.Downloads
