Abstract

This article examines the cognitive features of language acquisition in a multilingual educational environment. The relevance of the topic is driven by the growth of international academic cooperation and the need to adapt teaching methodologies to accommodate the cultural and linguistic diversity of learners. Special attention is paid to the phenomenon of bilingualism and the processes of learning a third language. The article is aimed at determining the factors influencing the formation and development of communicative competence of students in a multilingual educational environment. Through the analysis of various theoretical approaches, the authors identify key internal and external resources that influence the success of language acquisition. The practical part of the study is based on the experience of teaching Russian in Malaysia. The conducted research suggests the necessity of integrating the sociocultural context, cognitive strategies, and principles of cross-linguistic transfer for the effective development of linguistic competences in a multilingual environment.
