The article analyzes the possibility of applying the lexical approach for teaching foreign language idiomatic expressions. It outlines the specific features of the lexical approach and idioms as a linguistic category. The existing methodological recommendations for implementing the approach in the teaching process are systematized and complemented with the linguodidactic specifics of the application object taken into account. The potential limitations of applying the approach in the area under consideration are identified, and the possible ways of overcoming them are described.Downloads
